My Good Friend Pato [Jul. 25th, 2005|08:54 am]
Pato is my really good friend. I like him a lot. He makes everyone laugh and is always the life of the party.

Pato is trying to be tricky though. I've surprised him by attending his last two birthdays when he didn't know there was a birthday. Now he's trying to surprise me by claiming he won't be at my birthday because "his parents will be in town". I'm not falling for it though. My birthday will be so great as Pato and I race go-karts, ride the bumper cars, run around the park holding balloons and just laughing.

An Important Message [Jul. 12th, 2005|02:15 pm]
Drama for your baby mama. Yep, this is a shoot, brother.

Yeah I wasn’t planning on creating another post until I wrote about my Boston vacation, but something arose that needs to be addressed.

For the past few weeks, on the mistersaintlaurent.com messageboard, I’ve had some problems. Now, most of the people on that board have been fine, so this doesn’t concern them. It’s just that since I decided to begin reading David Shirt’s posts.

Today, though, the fit hit the shan. I see someone make a misleading post (it originally said “Hogan Released!” but when you read the post you discover that it was just his SHIRT that was released), and hey, I called him out on it as something that could be construed as “being an idiot” (some people recently accused this guy of being an idiot before, and one person in particular stated that they though someone posting misleading information is a version of idiot-being), so I decided to bring up that point, but more as an observation rather than an attack on the person. Holy schnikes did the stupid posts roll in.

I’m sorry, but I will NOT stand for some smug idiot jerkoff making bold lies such as these, and thus trying to make me look like some dumbfrick that doesn’t know what he’s talking about. I mean, it’s bad enough that I troll on the ROH Messageboard and make comments like, “Oh, Monty Brown should be the ROH World Heavyweight Champion”, which only reinforces the image that most smart marks have of the state of Florida, which is that we have shitty wrestling, and dumb redneck wrestling fans. That is just unacceptable to me, and if he just did this stunt this weekend as some arrogant joke, then buddy, it backfired.

Sometimes I think WAY too hard about things.

So I bought and am playing Zelda: Minish Cap for the GBA. It's a relatively good game but I keep getting stuck on stupid stuff. I walk up and see a small vine. Someone gave me a jar and mentioned I need to use it to go forward. I remember that earlier in the game, there are gnomes working on a potion to make plants grow better. I remember one of the gnomes in the shop mentioning that he needed milk in order to finish working on the plants. So I proceed to spend probably 3 hours on the airplane going all over the world trying to find milk. I figured I would either A) Use my jar on a cow to get milk or B) Go to the bar where a lady is drinking milk (and mentions she's hungry, so I probably needed to give her food). I go ALL over the place looking for either milk or food, but find nothing. I revealed TONS of secrets that I probably wasn't supposed to find until later in the game. But no way to make that vine grow.

So I check an online guide:

"The thing you have to do is swinging with the bottle at the water (south) and filling it. Then release the contents on the bean that has yet to grow, and voila! It grows instantly! Perfect."

So it's as simple as that. Use jar on water right next to plant, pour on plant, plant grows.

So now I feel partially stupid. But realistically, if there's a lab where they grow plants, and they need milk which I'd fill up in a jar that I was just told I needed to use the jar to go forward, why wouldn't I think that's the way to move forward in the game?

I won't even mention how I spent two hours on the flight up north looking for a way to get onto the mountain. Three guards blocked the ways out of town. The first two I talked to said "You cannot proceed", so I just ignored the third guard. Didn't even dawn on me that he says "Okay, I'll let you through". Idiot.

Apprentice Spoilers:

So Kendra wins. And she deserved it. She was awesome through the whole game and really nailed it in the final competition. But let's review what each apprentice gets to do.

1st Apprentice - Bill (guy): leader of a project building a 90-story building in Chicago

2nd Apprentice - Kelly (guy): leader of a huge project in Manhattan putting up all these luxery skyscrapers, plus he's introducing Trump Ice to America.

3rd Apprentice - Kendra (girl): will work with Miss Universe pagent. Also gets to help renovate a 11 bedroom house in Florida.

WHAT?

Sure, Kendra's the first girl apprentice. But man, could they have found stupider projects for her to work on? Bill and Kelly are building skyscrapers in major cities around America. Kendra gets to work with the models. Bill and Kelly are working on buildings that will house thousands of people. Kendra gets to work on the house Trump will stay in for a weekend each year. Bill and Kelly have nicely ironed shirts. Kendra is probably the one going to be doing the ironing.

Thumbs down Mr. Trump. Thumbs down. Kendra's better than this.

I went to the mall today. Millenia Mall now has a Sony store that sells only Sony stuff. The coolest thing was a digital camcorder that records in HD. They had it hooked up to a HD TV and the picture was incredible. I wish T-Shirt Mike would buy one to record SCW shows. It only cost $3600. Just tape 36 shows at $100 a show and that'll cover your costs. DO IT MIKE!

I watched Young Frankenstein today for the first time. I didn't care for it too much. This makes me nervous to watch Blazing Saddles, another movie I've never seen. Everyone says it's the greatest movie, but they say Young Frankenstein is great and I thought it was overall bad. I also saw Top Gun a week or two ago for the first time and thought that sucked too. Bad. It felt like a weak storyline with footages of planes stuck in between. Thumbs down.

I woke up this morning and found that I really don't care about my soda can collection anymore. I find that I'm wasting money on them (especially because I'm collecting Sugar sodas but not drinking them, so I'll buy a 12-pack for one can and end up giving away the rest) and I'm obsessive about always having to check for new can designs. The day I considered paying $20 for a Kona Pepsi is the day that I probably went too far.

So I'm not sure what I'm going to do. Should I just throw them away? Does anyone want them? I'll probably end up keeping the really odd ones and tossing all the rest. Who knows. Not me.

Full journal update to come later today, as I've been meaning to write it all week.

Apparently Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper has a limited release area and the website says that it's only available in "parts of Florida". Can everyone please keep their eyes out for a can for me? I just don't want to end up missing it because it's not available in my particular area of Florida.

It’s as if the soda can gods are shining down on me…

Realistically, I’ve had maybe two new sodas in the past seven or eight months. Mountain Dew: Pitch Black in September and Holiday Spice Pepsi in December. Pretty boring. However, the past few weeks have seen a plethora of new sodas coming my way. Coke with Lime was exciting since it was the first new one in a while. Then came Aruba Jam Sprite Remix, completely by surprise.

Then last night I accidentally stumble upon the new Mountain Dew can. Remember a few weeks ago when I was pissed because they changed the box to say “Same Dew, New View” but filled it with soda cans with the old can design? I suppose they were just flushing out their old sodas because the new can is the same design as the box.

I’m a fan of the new Mountain Dew design. The dark greens are darker, the light greens are more neon, the logo is larger and much more pointier. Almost as if someone took the logo and started dragging it in different directions. I’m wondering if they’re going to release Code Red, Livewire and Pitch Black with the new logo. If so, that’d increase the number of Mountain Dew cans to nine, which is a lot considering I had five yesterday.

Plus there’s more sodas on the way. Cherry Vanilla Dr Pepper, Coca Cola Zero and the line of 14 oz. Mt Dew cans currently available give me plenty of stuff to keep my eyes open for.

I don’t want my LiveJournal to turn into strictly soda talk, so here’s some other things going on lately.

I went onto my back porch last night and a lizard ran into the house. I ordinarily wouldn’t care except that my friend’s dog recently died because it ate a lizard and that destroyed its intestinal track. Not to mention that we recently had a mole cricket in the house and Splenda DESTROYED it before we could even catch it. I tried to lure the lizard back outside, but it kept running by the door and not out it. Finally, it lunged into a pile of clothes, never to be seen again. Or so I thought. Two hours later, we see it running on the hamper. Kendra throws a shirt on it and I scoop it up and take it outside. I put it on the ground and wanted to go back inside but was afraid of it running back inside again, so I tried scaring it. Didn’t work. Tried touching it. BOOM! It takes off and does a running dive right off the porch. Mind you, I’m on the third floor. I look over the edge and don’t see it. I see something on the ground below that might be it, so I wait for it to move but it doesn’t. I feel bad but even if it did die, better the lizard than Splenda. Maybe 20 minutes later, I take Splenda out and go over to see if the lizard is there. Whatever I thought I saw is gone and there’s no lizard corpse to be found, so I’m guessing that it was in shock from the fall, woke up and ran off. Now it’s sitting at home having tea and krimpets with its family.

Survivor Spoiler Alert – don’t read this paragraph if you haven’t seen it yet. Man, Survivor is incredible this season. For those not watching, here’s the scenario. Twenty people, two instantly eliminated, leaving 18 people. Which become two teams of nine. So over the course of the last eight weeks, one tribe has lost EVERY SINGLE IMMUNITY CHALLENGE. It’s ridiculous. Last night there was a tribe of two competing against a tribe of eight (the winning tribe was forced to lose someone in an episode where both teams lost a member). They make it fair by doing 2 vs. 2, but the loser tribe STILL loses. So now the last guy is gone and we have a single girl going back to camp by herself. You would have expected a merge by now but I think the show is just toying with this girl. I can’t wait to see next week’s episode because she really relied on this guy for food, water and fire. Ridiculously good.

Here’s a rant. I hate Viva La Bam. This used to be the best show on TV. The story of a guy with too much money and all the crazy things he can do with it. Tree house casino? Done. Turn the yard into a demolition derby? Done. Now the show feels EXTREMELY scripted. One of the more recent episodes has April upset over a $500 power bill. What? So she goes to confront them and they’re burning chairs for heat. What? They don’t care about money so they’re randomly burning chairs at just the same time April is upset over a power bill. How convenient. So she makes a bet where they have to get jobs and earn the $500 for the power bill or else they have to clean the house. Very hokey, but I can deal with it. So the jobs they get are absolutely ridiculous and there’s no way it’s really happening. They get a job at a pizza place and just sit around pouring sauce on each other. Just completely unbelievable things like that. And coincidentally enough, they make just enough money to cover the bill but have to pay a $30 parking ticket so SWERVE they lose and have to clean the house. What about the hundreds of dollars of damage they did to the pizza shop? Just stupid. I liked the show so much better when it felt like the cameras were following them around, instead of them performing for the camera. Big difference when it comes to “reality TV”.

Gary Gulman is coming to the Improv in a couple of weeks so I’m planning to go to that. Haven’t been to a comedy show in about a year and he’s one of Kendra’s favorites (a runner-up in Last Comic Standing 2) so that should be fun. Too bad we’re not going to get to go to Mitch Hedberg in Orlando this June. I want to see Jim Norton (my other favorite comic) but he’s not performing anywhere close anytime soon. Maybe I’ll just go to Universal to the comedy show there since it’s free.

Last night, Kendra's mom decides that she's ready to start shopping for a new puppy. She wants a female white poodle. So I start calling around and find out that the PetLand on the other side of town has a female white poodle. I asked them to hold it and we hop in the car and drive to the other side of town. We get there and walk around and can only find two caramel ones. So I asked the employee where the white poodle is and she points at the caramel ones. I say "That's not white, it's caramel" and she says "Well... close enough." Even the manager there says that there's a big difference and she shouldn't have told us that. So I asked if they can call the other PetLands and find out if they have a female white poodle. They tell me they can't because they're all independent from each other. So I'm pissed and say "Well since you drug us out here after lying to me about the dog, can you at least give me the numbers so I can call myself?" and they say No. So we start walking out and the manager could tell I was pissed and say "Sir, did you want to wait for those numbers?" but I said forget it and left. I hate stupid people.

Kissmobile [Apr. 6th, 2005|12:50 am]
On my way home from Impact tonight, I passed the Hershey's Kissmobile on I-4:

http://www.hersheys.com/kissmobile/

According to the website, there's only two or three in the world (it wasn't clear). I passed Kissmobile I, since that's the one scheduled to be in Orlando right now.

I went to the store the other day only to be shocked by the discovery of a new soda: Aruba Jam Sprite Remix. I bought a 12-pack and thought they tasted really good. I'm thinking they're replacing Berryclear Sprite Remix, so that makes two discontinued Sprite flavors (the other being Tropical Sprite Remix). Aruba Jam tastes best of the three, so I see it sticking around for a long time.

I just found out that they're finally releasing Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper. Regular sugar version, not diet. Someone is selling one on EBay but I'm sure I'll be able to pick it up sooner or later. I wish I was able to buy single-cans but I usually have to pick up the 12-pack, which sucks knowing I don't really drink too much sugar soda and the fact that I don't like any flavor of Dr. Pepper. Here's a picture:

I wonder if they've discontinued Dr. Pepper: Red Fusion?

Either way, my soda collection is slowly growing out of control. Here's a listing of all the sodas I have. Remember, I only collect mainstream sodas. Note that I only keep closed cans that are filled with soda, so I don't have to worry about bugs and stuff like that. Makes it hard for me to buy a lot of the old stuff. Almost everything I bought from the store. I figure in ten years, when I have a lot of different can designs, the collection will look really cool. Until then, most of the stuff you can probably still buy today if you look around for it.

Mountain Dew (regular and from Hulk promotion)
Mountain Dew: Code Red
Mountain Dew: LiveWire
Mountain Dew: Pitch Black

Sprite (two different can designs)
Tropical Sprite Remix
Berryclear Sprite Remix
Aruba Jam Sprite Remix
Diet Sprite Zero

7-Up (two different can designs)
Cherry 7-Up
7-Up Plus
dnL (aka upside-down 7-Up)
Diet 7-Up (two different can designs, I'll probably pitch the regular diet)

Dr. Pepper
Dr. Pepper: Red Fusion
Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper (want to replace this with regular version)

*I also grab generic Dr. Peppers when I find them*
Dr. Thunder
Dr. Bold
Dr. Chek

Pepsi (two can designs)
Pepsi Blue
Pepsi Vanilla
Pepsi Twist
Pepsi Edge
Wild Cherry Pepsi (two can designs)
Pepsi One
Pepsi Superbowl Promotion (2004, 2005, and two others)
Pepsi Americana 2003 Promotion (four can designs)

Coke (five can designs, one from 1992)
Coke can in shape of bottle - discontinued in 1998 (?) because it jammed machines
Vanilla Coke
Cherry Coke
Coke with Lime
C2
Diet Coke with Lemon (will there ever be a regular version of this?)
Coke Christmas Promotion (2003 and 2004)

Off-Brands:
Cherrywine (only sold in North Carolina, given to me by a friend)
Gombay Punch (bought on my honeymoon in the Bahamas)
Kola Champagne (from a friend, only kept because it matches the Gombay Punch)

And in the near future, I'm looking to add Crystal Pepsi and Kona Pepsi to the collection. I saw a golden Mountain Dew from a Star Wars promotion, but it's really rare because you win $20 if you found it. Sold on EBay for $50. How ironic.

That's about it. Keep an eye out for the regular Cherry Vanilla Dr Pepper and let me know if you see it in the stores.

Finally, after weeks of putting up with bad episodes of Deep Space 9, there was a really good one that I watched last night. Hopefully things are going to start improving from here. Unfortunately I'm currently 17 episodes behind, so I have a lot of catching up to do. Good thing I'm taking the next two days off of work, I'll have lots of time to catch up.

SpikeTV worked me this week. Only one episode of Deep Space 9 taped yesterday, so I got concerned that I was missing episodes. Turns out that they're only airing 1 episode a day this week because they're running a CSI marathon - 8 episodes a day for 5 days.

I was initially concerned because I thought the "1 a week" would be permanent, and it would then take me 9 months to watch all the Deep Space Nine episodes. But it's just this week, which is nice because I'm 12 episodes behind and this'll give me a chance to catch up.

So far, the show has sucked. There's been a few interesting episodes, but I'm frustrated because I'm predicting endings to the episodes that end up being better than what really happened. Then last night, I fall asleep in the middle of an episode where Rumpelstiltskin invades the station. Yes, that Rumpelstiltskin - from the fairytales. It's so hard to keep watching when there's bad episodes. However, I know that it gets good by the third or fourth seasons, so I need to stay strong.

SCW this weekend was awesome. Thumbs up.

Big news in the world of soda. It appears that sometime this year, Diet Sprite Zero will be dropping the "diet" in their name and only going to Sprite Zero.

Continuing the trend, it appears Coca-Cola Zero will be launched in June 2005. This was just announced today. It is completely different than Diet Coke, despite having no calories and tasting like coke. Here's the incomplete website:

http://www.cocacolazero.com/

And a picture of the pending can design:

http://www.cocacolazero.com/img/bottle_subpage.jpg

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Why launch a new diet soft drink?
A. Coca-Cola Zero is for consumers who are looking for real Coca-Cola taste with zero calories and who are not consumers of current diet CSDs. Increasingly, people are looking for variety, especially young adults, and we think Coca-Cola Zero’s taste and personality will appeal to them.

Q. What’s wrong with Diet Coke?
A. Absolutely nothing. Diet Coke is the #1 diet cola in America and continues to grow. Coca-Cola Zero will provide non users of current zero calorie colas a great tasting option.

Q. What will Coca-Cola Zero taste like?
A. It has real Coca-Cola taste, with zero calories.

Q. When and where will Coca-Cola Zero be available?
A. Coca-Cola Zero will be launched in June in a wide variety of retail outlets (supermarkets, convenience stores, etc) across the United States .
